Junior call case 14
Triquetral fracture.
- Whenever these is significant soft tissue swelling and you don’t see a fracture, double-check the “hot spots” for each body part.
- Specifically, triquetral fractures are only seen on the LATERAL view along the DORSAL aspect of the carpal bones.
- Try to include this location as part of your wrist search pattern, as you often won’t get any helpful “dorsal wrist pain” history.
- Consider including the occult scaphoid fracture/anatomic snuffbox disclaimer, as the location of the pain may be similar.
