Malpositioning of the right internal jugular central venous cather which lies in the right carotid artery.
- For all ICU chest x-rays, the two findings to always consider carefully are pneumothorax and improperly positioned lines.
- Remember, even if the “lines and tubes are unchanged” for the past several days, there can still be a persistently stable but malpositioned line.
- These findings are favorites for radiology boards examiners and also for malpractice lawyers.
